Love this Sarah! It reminded me of something Chris Ryan said on one of his Tangentially Speaking podcast episodes.

Desire for something can merely be an appreciation of the desired thing. Many times we think if we like/appreciate something, we want it. He explained how much he loved the grotto-style houses in the Canary Islands. He thought to himself “I would love a house like that.” But then he thought about it more and realized that while he appreciated that type of living abode, he didn’t really ‘want’ it.

There would be neighbours he didn’t necessarily want to engage with, the maintenance of the place etc.

So wanting less can also be a result of examining what it is you really like about the thing/experience. And many times, you can get that from something less ‘grand’.
